Welcome to Hueytown High School Library Media Center



The Hueytown High School Library Media Center has a collection
of more than 10,000 items. The mission of the library media center is to promote
effective use of ideas and information by students and staff.

Hours of Operation: 7:30-3:45 weekdays, Other hours by
arrangement
Computer Use: The Media Center has six workstations
with access to the Internet. Proper Internet Permission Form must be on file
each year for students to have access to the Internet. In addition, the Media
Center has two Card Catalog workstations.
Alabama Virtual Library (AVL): This is a free web site
provided by the state of Alabama. This website allows students and staff access to libraries across the state. To access the website at home you must go
to your local public library and get an AVL card. This card provides you
with a user name and a password.
The Databases included in AVL are: Access Science,
African-American History and Culture, Britannica Online, Career & Technical,
EBSCOhost, Electric Library, Encyclopedia Americana, Ethnic News Watch, Gale
Literary Resources, Grolier Encyclopedia, HealthSource Plus, Junior Quest, New
Book of Knowledge, OCLC First Search, Poemfinder, Searchasaurus, All SIRS
Databases.
Checkout Policy: Books are checked out for three weeks at a time and may be renewed if necessary. At times some materials may be put on reserve
and may be used only in the Library.
