DECA is the national youth organization for students enrolled in Marketing Education. The Hueytown Chapter of DECA enjoys a reputation for excellence due to its diverse and highly motivated members.

DECA sponsors many projects each year, including "Gimme 5," a school-wide community service awareness initiative. DECA members provide information about volunteer opportunities and manage a system or students to report their community service hours. This year DECA will be giving away a IPOD through a drawing of students who submit their service hours by April, 2006.

Each year DECA members travel to New York City for an intense field trip where they become immersed in business and marketing through visits to Wall Street, The UN, fashion houses, and being behind the scenes tours of NBC Studios and Madison Square Gardens. they also enjoy other "tourist" related activities such as seeing a Broadway play, visiting Central Park, Time Square, The Statue of Liberty, and other points of interest.

In the spring, DECA members get busy with the various levels of competition and travel to locations such as Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and Orlando to compete on a international level.

This busy organization offers much to the student who wishes to build a resume and have fun doing it!
